Trail Bites: Biden's Blind Spot for Hunter Further Damages Legacy

There has been a lot of anger directed at President Joe Biden for going back on his pledge not to pardon his son Hunter, and rightfully so.

Joe Biden pretended to be 'Captain America', 'Mr. Democracy' and at the end of the day he put his family ahead of the interests of our country, like he always has.

Hunter Biden should've never been near the White House, Air Force One, Marine One, etc. The appearance of corruption was clear as day, to everyone except Joe, who either didn't notice or more likely didn't care.

I have tremendous empathy for the loss that Joe is endured in his life. The pain that he's suffered never goes away. I've seen him talk with supporters here in New Hampshire about the common enemy that all of society has in cancer. In fact, I've even talked with him about that myself and encouraged his moonshot effort.

Whenever I'm critical of Joe Biden, I'm flooded with what-about-isms in regard to our incoming President.

I don't want to hear it.

President Biden has used very powerful rhetoric in holding himself to a higher standard than that of Trump. Joe after all is battling for the "Soul of America" and apparently inside that soul is issuing a blanket pardon for your kid, not just for the crimes he committed, but may have committed in the prior decade.

Joe promised to restore confidence in our institutions, but referred to Hunter coping a plea on gun charges and being convicted on tax evasion as a "miscarriage of justice". Very Trumpian.

Except the only "miscarriage of justice" is when Biden puts his thumb on it to once again bail out Hunter.

If facing a jail sentence in a couple weeks for crimes you've been convicted of, or pled guilty to is a miscarriage of justice, I expect Joe to issue blanket pardons to all individuals who're serving time for similar crimes, not just his kid, who's going to be 55-years-old in February. I'll wait on that.

It's also worth noting that Trump could've issued blanket pardons for himself, family, Giuliani, Meadows, and others. But, he didn't. In fact, it's never been done before, until now.

Something must've happened at Thanksgiving on Nantucket between father and son. Biden's staff seemed surprised. I feel for Karine Jean-Pierre and others who've said continually, with conviction, that Joe wouldn't do this.

It seems like they believed it.

But, they shouldn't have. Biden's pride and stubbornness are two of his strongest traits.

This was exhibited by his mind-boggling decision to pursue a second-term when any reasonable observer who watched or listened to him wondered if he was up for running again.

He (and the DNC) tried to skip New Hampshire's Primary, who determined he was the fifth best democratic candidate back in 2020, in favor of a coronation in South Carolina. Then they all realized we were having the primary with or without them and the sitting President was forced to engage in a successful, but cringy write-in campaign.

Then there was the debate with Trump which was by far the most embarrassing event in Presidential history and greatly damaged he institution, but still he wouldn't exit the race for weeks.

Joe Biden has continually used the phrase that he credits to his dad, 'Don't tell me your values. Show me your budget, and I'll tell you your values."

I would say this to him, "Don't tell me how much you care about America. I'll look at your actions, and I'll tell you how much you care about America."
