On NH Today, DeSantis: "Trump Has Lost a Little Zip on His Fastball"

Gov. DeSantis on the Trump 2024 Campaign:

“It’s a different Donald Trump. I think that he’s lost a little zip on his fast ball; and most of his stuff, he is focused on himself instead of America first.”

In an interview with "New Hampshire Today's" Chris Ryan, the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, talks about his efforts to rescue Floridians and other Americans who have been stranded in Israel; describes how he would handle the crisis between Israel and Hamas if he were President; analyzes how President Trump is campaigning differently now than in the previous campaigns; and explains why he would be a better candidate against Biden than Trump.

Governor DeSantis discussed how two hundred and seventy Americans who were getting little help from our State Department, mostly Floridians, were flown from Israel to Florida on a chartered flight. Using executive powers, the Governor will arrange at least two more flights to help Americans who are stranded as war rages in Israel.

“When there is leadership lacking, you’ve just got to step up and do it. I had people in harm’s way. It is my responsibility to bring them home.”

When he was asked how he would handle the Hamas/Israeli crisis, Governor DeSantis was critical of the Biden Administration’s attempts at rapprochement with Iran. The Governor would maintain sanctions to prevent Iran from reaping money from oil sales which they use to finance groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.

In addition, Governor DeSantis would give Israel the green light to eliminate Hamas, and he rejects attempts at moral equivalency between Hamas and the State of Israel.

Ron DeSantis had some interesting insights into how President Trump is acting and speaking differently now than he did in previous elections. In 2016, he feels that Trump was edgy, unscripted, and focused on the issues, but now DeSantis feels that Trump gets in trouble when he deviates from the teleprompter.

“It’s a different Donald Trump. I think that he’s lost a little zip on his fast ball; and most of his stuff, he is focused on himself instead of America first.”

Reacting to opinion polls which show that 70% of voters don’t want a Biden-Trump rematch in 2024, the Governor gives several reasons why that he is a better alternative: DeSantis is in his prime, 45, not 80; and can serve two terms because he feels that it’s going to take at least 8 years to turn things around.

Ron DeSantis believes that eventually Republican and independent voters will vote for him because he has a record of accomplishments as Governor of Florida; he doesn’t come with baggage, like Trump; and he wouldn’t lose as many votes to a third-party candidate, like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
