UN Ambassador, Nikki Haley criticizes her former boss’s China policy: “One of the weakest things that Trump did was that he congratulated President Xi and the Communist Party on the 70th anniversary of their taking over China. You never congratulate Communists. You only congratulate freedom, and that is the wrong tone to send to China.”

In an interview on "New Hampshire Today" with Chris Ryan, former South Carolina Governor and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley discusses the strong steps that she would take, as President, to deal with China; criticizes President Trump for not being tough enough on China and his tendency to try to be friends with leaders like Putin and Xi Jinping; suggests ways to ensure that US foreign policy can match the long term strategies of autocratic regimes like China; and analyzes recent developments in the war in Ukraine.

Ambassador Haley enumerates the reasons why we should consider China to be an enemy and not a competitor, and she lists the steps that she would take to limit Chinese influence here and abroad.

“We’ve got to take them on domestically, economically, and militarily.”

China has been buying up American farmland; killing our young people with fentanyl; stealing our intellectual property; infiltrated our universities; and Chinese businesses, which are fronts for their government, are lobbying our legislatures.

If all of that wasn’t bad enough, China has built a much bigger navy than the United States and has been developing hypersonic missiles which are more advanced than ours.

To counter China’s aggression, Ambassador Haley would stop and reverse the sale of farmland, restrict trade to stop the fentanyl shipments to the Mexican cartels, curtail Chinese investments in our universities, greatly restrict the copyrights which can be sold to China, and prohibit lobbying by Chinese companies.

Although she served as President Trump’s Ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley criticizes his not being tough enough on China. She gives Trump credit for initiating better trade deals with China, but he didn’t do anything about dealing with China’s economic and cultural infiltration in our country and the growth of their military.

“One of the weakest things that Trump did was that he congratulated President Xi and the Communist Party on the 70th anniversary of their taking over China. You never congratulate Communists. You only congratulate freedom, and that is the wrong tone to send to China.”

Ambassador Haley also disapproves how Trump cozies up to dictators like Xi and Putin.

“He believes if you befriend dictators that you can better negotiate with them, but you can’t befriend dictators. Dictators and thugs are going to continue being dictators and thugs. I did express to him the concerns that I had with Russia and Putin.”

Dictatorships like Russia and China don’t need to deal with election cycles and can develop long term strategies. Ambassador Haley points out that US policy in recent years has not involved Congress and has been based only on executive orders by each president.

The Ambassador calls for the President and Congress to work together to develop a twenty-to-thirty-year foreign policy plan which promotes American strength.

In the final segment of the interview, Ambassador Haley states that Putin and Xi will continue to be unlimited partners. She also criticizes President Biden for being slow in providing help for Ukraine. In her opinion, Russia is in trouble right now, and Ukraine should be given as much help as we can provide
