Gov. Sununu’s reaction to being touted as a Third-Party 2024 Presidential Candidate by the Wall Street Journal:

“No. No. It’s nothing we’re considering. The focus right now is all about getting a great Republican candidate.”

Governor Sununu, humbling and flattering; but he is focused on helping the campaigns of Republican presidential candidates.

Recent polling has shown that most Americans, both Democrats and Republicans, want candidates other than Biden and Trump. No Labels, a political group which promotes centrism and bipartisanship, would do the groundwork and organization. So far, No Labels is on the ballot in five states and has pledged to be on the ballot in all fifty states.

Historically, third-party presidential candidates have only succeeded in taking votes from one of the main party candidates. Governor Sununu thinks that this election could be different, due to the negative polling numbers of Biden and Trump, a third-party candidate could actually win the Presidency. In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu responds to Wall Street Journal Op-ed Article which said that the Governor would be an excellent Third Party 2024 Presidential Candidate; acknowledges that, because of voter dissatisfaction with a Trump-Biden rematch, a third party candidate could do better than in the past; discusses whether people move in or out of states for political or economic reasons; and talks about the steps that are being made to deal with the mental health crisis in the Granite State.

Being touted as a Third-Party Presidential Candidate on the editorial page of the World Street Journal was, according to

“Never before in history has an opportunity like this presented itself. This isn’t 92 with Ross Perot, or anything like that.”

Governor Sununu believes that people who have recently moved to New Hampshire have been motivated by economic opportunities rather than for political reasons, but he does accept that many people might be leaving a red state or blue state for political reasons.

In the last segment of the interview, the Governor discussed the steps that New Hampshire is taking to deal with mental health. Mental health facilities are being expanded, new providers have been brought in, license reciprocity has been expedited, Medicaid rates have been increased, and we are increasing our work force. Establishing mobile crisis teams and improving access to getting help.
