Former Arkansas Governor Hutchinson is seriously considering joining the Republican field of candidates.

“I get a lot of encouragement about running for president in 2024. I’m not going to make a decision until later in April, but I’ve been pleased with the response that I get and really focusing on a conservative message for America and our future.”

In an interview with New Hampshire’s Chris Ryan, the former Governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson discusses the 2024 presidential election and his potential candidacy; explains his philosophy of conservative government; outlines how he would deal with immigration issues; criticizes President Biden for not visiting the site of the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio; and evaluates US-China relations.

Since he has left office, Governor Hutchinson has been considering a presidential run by touring the country. He will be visiting the Granite State and other early primary states.

Asa Hutchinson considers himself to be a true, small government conservative, and he questions the commitment to conservative principles of former President Trump and Governor DeSantis.

President Trump’s record on spending and being more committed to his own agenda and interests is called into question by Governor Hutchinson. In addition, Hutchinson feels that a true conservative would not use government to put pressure on a private company, like Governor DeSantis did with Disney.

Drawing on his experience as Director of the DEA-Drug Enforcement Agency and Undersecretary of Homeland Security in the Bush Administration, Asa Hutchinson is very concerned about our open southern border and the resulting fentanyl crisis.

Governor Hutchinson believes that the primary goal is to control the borders, north and south. Then, steps can be taken to streamline the immigration system and to deal with the Mexican drug cartels.

In Hutchinson’s opinion, Joe Biden should have visited East Palestine, Ohio. The people of that community and the rest of the country would have benefitted from seeing the President showing leadership and concern.

In the last segment of the interview, Governor Hutchinson described the US-China relations as being the worst in his lifetime. He calls for the US being tougher on China, decreasing our dependence on Chinese goods, and reestablishing our military presence in the Philippines.
