Governor Chris Sununu sees the need for at least three options for Republican voters--Trump and DeSantis are too similar.

“Clearly, there needs to be a different voice and a different approach. Is it me, or is it somebody else? I think there’s a lot of opportunity there.”

In an interview with New Hampshire Today’s Chris Ryan, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu discusses the possible field of Republican candidates, which may include himself; admits that he has talked about the possibility of his running for president with his family; addresses ways to meet staffing shortages at state prisons; talks about bills dealing with gender affirming care and a parent’s bill of rights which are being considered in the legislature; and weighs in on the lawsuit between Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems.

For a Republican candidate to win the presidency in 2024 and to be successful in the future, Governor Sununu believes that the nominee must be able appeal to independents and to younger voters.

Valerie Sununu and their three children will be supporting Governor Sununu whether he decides to run or not run for president.

“They know what I’m out here doing, what we’re talking about, and where we’re trying to bring the national party. They know it could lead to something bigger.”

Due to a shortage of prison guards, the Governor has had to use the National Guard, as a short-term solution. New guards will be graduating soon from their training classes.

The legislature is considering a bill which would prohibit gender affirming care. Governor Sununu favors some of the aspects of the ban, but he it is early in the legislative process.

Similarly, the Governor supports the idea of a Parent’s Bill of Rights, which also has a great deal of popular support. However, The Governor wants guarantees that the bill will meet any legal requirements and provide protections for children and mandated reporters, such as teachers and other professionals.

In the final segment of the interview, the Governor continued a topic which he discussed recently on Meet the Press, the lawsuit between Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems. Governor Sununu maintains that all cable news programs, whether the lean left or right, need to do a better job of being truthful.
