Governor Sununu predicts that by the end of 2023, inflation will increase a bit and there will be a recession or a soft stagnation which could last through 2026.

In an interview on New Hampshire Today with Chris Ryan, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu discusses the budget which has proposed to the Legislature; forecasts the possibility of a recession; outlines the education portion of his budget proposal; talks about his plans to streamline and update New Hampshire’s licensing procedures; summarizes the proposed increases in healthcare spending; and weighs in on Nikki Haley’s announcement that she is running for President.

Governor Sununu believes that he has proposed a budget which addresses the needs and wants of the Granite State while preparing for a possible downturn in revenues. Consequently, his budget increases funding for every department while also putting money aside in the rainy-day fund.

By the end of 2023, the Governor predicts that inflation will increase a bit and there will be a recession or a soft stagnation which could last through 2026.

The proposed budget increase spending for education while also changing and clarifying the formula used to distribute state funds to local districts.

The Governor has also called for the streamlining of New Hampshire’s licensing procedures by accepting licenses from states with similar requirements and eliminating antiquated procedures and unneeded bureaucracy.

The proposed budget also increases Medicaid reimbursements and funding for programs to deal with the rising number of fentanyl deaths.

In the last segment of the interview, Governor Sununu reacted to former Governor of South Carolina and UN Ambassador, Nikki Haley announcement that she is running for President.

“Nikki is a friend. I think that she would make a great president.
