Congressman Chris Pappas had a very positive view of President Biden’s State of the Union Address.

“The President delivered a unifying message to Congress and the American people. He presented an agenda that most Americans can get behind on a variety of issues.”

In an interview with New Hampshire Today’s Chris Ryan, the Representative from New Hampshire’s First Congressional District, Chris Pappas, discusses President Biden’s State of the Union Address; addresses the Administration’s handling of the fentanyl and immigration problemss; talks about legislation to improve health care costs;  and agrees with Governor Sununu that increased resources are needed to patrol New Hampshire’s border with Canada.

Congressman Pappas had a very positive view of President Biden’s State of the Union Address.

“The President delivered a unifying message to Congress and the American people. He presented an agenda that most Americans can get behind on a variety of issues.”

Despite the posturing and lack of decorum displayed during the speech, the Congressman feels that there is the possibility for both parties to find common ground and to work on the problems which we face.

One of the more contentious moments in President Biden’s speech was when he spoke about the death toll due to fentanyl. Congressman Pappas criticized the Biden Administration’s poor job of dealing with the surge in immigration across the southern border.

On a positive note, Congressman Pappas commended President Biden for pivoting and suggesting that Congress could work toward increased spending for the border patrol.

Finding ways to lower healthcare costs might be lacking areas of bipartisan agreement, but there are important policy decisions which need to be made to ensure that there are enough healthcare workers in the future.

In the final segment of the interview, Congressman Pappas confirms reports that border control resources at the Canadian border have been diverted to deal with the crisis at the southern border. The Congressman agrees that as a matter of national security more resources need to be put in place.
