Dr. Tom Sherman, the Democrat candidate for governor, is worried that New Hampshire vulnerable to a recession. “Chris Sununu has left us incredibly vulnerable to any financial hit; and remember, our GDP is much lower than he was bragging about last night. We’re in the bottom third of the country.”
In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, the Democrat candidate for governor, Dr. Tom Sherman, who is a state senator representing Senate District 24, discusses last night’s debate with Chris Sununu; criticizes the Governor’s energy policies, which may have serious consequences this winter; and calls for the development of energy production in New Hampshire, as a way to lower costs; and agrees with a Moody’s Analytics prediction that New Hampshire will experience problems weathering the recession, which will be coming.
Dr. Sherman describes Chris Sununu’s debate presentation as inaccurate.
“He was saying that everything is great in New Hampshire, and my experience, as I have traveled this state, is that it is not. There are soaring costs which he could have controlled. Unfortunately, Granite Staters are suffering as a result.”
As winter approaches, Eversource has announced that there will not be enough fossil fuel to provide electrical power to New England. Dr. Sherman blames this on a lack of foresight by Governor Sununu.
“Every one of our surrounding states is years ahead of us. We could have been right there with them, but Sununu blocked every effort to develop our energy options—wind, hydro, solar.”
Dr. Sherman insists that the possibility of brown outs are the result of Sununu’s stopping the development of alternative energy and preventing businesses from generating their own electricity.
In the final segment of the interview, Dr. Sherman believes that Moody’s Analytics is correct that New Hampshire will have difficulty weathering a recession due to the policies of his opponent.
“Chris Sununu has left us incredibly vulnerable to any financial hit; and, remember, our GDP is much lower than he was bragging about last night. We’re in the bottom third of the country.”
In addition, Dr. Sherman called for building up the state’s infrastructure, legalizing marijuana, and finding ways to increase revenues without raising taxes which have been resisted by Governor Sununu.
