Senator Tom Cotton, a possible Republican presidential candidate, goes after a fellow Senator, “Maggie Hassan has been dug in with Joe Biden 97% of the time. She voted for that $2 trillion inflation causing bill. She even voted to give checks to convicted murderers like the Boston Marathon bomber.”
In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, Senator Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas and possible 2024 presidential candidate, discusses how President Biden’s policies have caused inflation; suggests some alternative energy solutions; speculates on the effects of climate change; predicts America’s economic future; criticizes the Biden Administration’s foreign policy; and avoids answering whether he will be a presidential candidate in 2024 by stating that he is focused on the midterm elections in 2022.
Senator Cotton believes that the increased prices of gasoline, heating oil, and electricity are the direct result of President Biden’s anti-fossil fuels policies. In addition, the Senator feels that the record inflation, which the American people now face, is caused by the rising cost of energy.
Rather than being dependent on wind and solar power or foreign oil, Senator Cotton suggests using clean natural gas, domestic oil, and nuclear energy. The Senator also favors research into carbon capture technology.
In regard to climate change, Senator Cotton accepts that the earth is getting warmer, and that human activity is a factor; but he questions some of the predictions of what will happen in the next ten to one hundred years.
In the meantime, the Senator feels that the average American is more concerned about being able to afford money for gas, so he can get to work. Senator Cotton is also worried that, because of the Biden policies, the United States no longer energy independent and will be getting oil from unfriendly countries like Venezuela and Iran.
A recession is inevitable, according to Senator Cotton, unless we control inflation, cut government spending, and reduce regulations which stifle economic growth.
Senator Cotton describes President Biden’s foreign policy as a total fiasco driven by a blame America first ideology. The Senator criticizes President Biden’s handling of our retreat from Afghanistan, the war in Ukraine, dealing with China, and Iran’s nuclear development.
In the final segment of the interview, Senator Cotton, who will be in New Hampshire again next month, avoided announcing if he intended to run for president in 2024. When asked if he would be a candidate if President Trump was in the race, the Senator said that he is more concerned with the midterm election and winning Republican control of the House and Senate.
