Q: Sec. Pompeo, will you run for president if President Trump decides to run?

A: “After these (midterm) elections, I’ll turn my attention to what’s next for the Pompeo family, how we can best serve in the months and years ahead. . . We’ll do that, and it won’t depend on what anybody else does.”

In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, Mike Pompeo, who served as Secretary of State and CIA Director for President Trump, reflects on last night’s Hillsboro County Lincoln-Reagan Fundraising Dinner in Manchester, where he was the keynote speaker; answers whether he will be a presidential candidate in 2024; calls on European countries to stop funding the war in Ukraine by their continued purchasing of Russian oil and natural gas; criticizes the Biden Administration for its timid of support for Ukraine; predicts what will be Putin’s next moves in Ukraine; and describes a positive image for Republican candidates.

Mike Pompeo has an impressive biography. He graduated first in his class from West Point in 1986, has served as a Congressman from Kansas, CIA Director, Secretary of State, and he is a possible presidential or vice-presidential candidate in 2024.

Giving support for Republican candidates running for federal and local offices in New Hampshire was Secretary Pompeo’s reason for speaking at Lincoln-Reagan Dinner. Also, he enjoys meeting voters and hearing their concerns about inflation, gas prices, Ukraine, etc.

When he was asked whether he will run for president if President Trump decides to run, Secretary Pompeo left the door open.

“After these (midterm) elections, I’ll turn my attention to what’s next for the Pompeo family, how we can best serve in the months and years ahead. . . We’ll do that, and it won’t depend on what anybody else does. We’ll do what’s best for America and what’s best for the Pompeos.”

Secretary Pompeo talks about how he tried to get European countries to reduce their dependence on Russian oil and natural gas and to pay 2% of their GDP for their defense. With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, European countries now realize their mistake, but they need to understand that Putin will not stop in his efforts to expand his empire.

In his opinion, Pompeo believes that the Biden Administration should be doing more to aid the Ukrainians in this struggle.

“They want the tools of war to fight Vladimir Putin. . . We’ve been too slow and too small. Frankly, the administration won’t talk about allowing the Ukrainians to fight and win. Instead, they say that might provoke Vladimir Putin.”

The Russian invasion has been somewhat stalled by the Ukrainians, but Secretary Pompeo is convinced that Putin will continue to try to break the will of the Ukrainian people by attacking civilian targets. Also, the Russians will try to consolidate the territory under their control and try to cut off Ukraine’s access to the Black Sea.

Secretary Pompeo feels that Republican candidates should support the ideas that they believe: a sovereign nation controls its borders; this is a great country, not a nation based on racist ideas; Americans can do great things together, but not divided by skin color; the American economy works best when the government impacts it the least; and inflation is caused by banning American energy production.
