Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo answers whether Mike Pence or his boss, President Trump was right on January 6th.

In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, Mike Pompeo, who served as Secretary of State and CIA Director for President Trump, gives his opinion of Vladimir Putin; evaluates the current situation in Ukraine; evaluates how the war in Ukraine has affected NATO; weighs in on China’s role Russia’s invasion; puts forward the Pompeo energy policy; gives a blueprint for Republican candidates in the midterm election; and answers whether Trump or Pence was right on January 6th.
Mike Pompeo, who graduated first in his class from West Point in 1986, has served as a Congressman from Kansas, CIA Director, and Secretary of State. Secretary Pompeo, who is a possible presidential or vice-presidential candidate in 2024, will be speaking at a Republican fund-raising event in Hillsboro County next month.
Having met on numerous occasions with Russian President, Pompeo warns everyone to not underestimate Vladimir Putin’s abilities or his resolve.
“We need to recognize that he is a leader who is determined to execute his mission. He is evil. He is a thug. “
Despite the successes which the Ukrainians have achieved, Pompeo feels that Russia has also made gains, such as cutting Ukraine off from the Black Sea. He also cautions people from attaching importance to statements made by Putin or his lackeys. It is more important to follow what Putin does.
Secretary Pompeo is impressed with the fight that Ukraine has put up, but he is concerned that we and NATO have been slow in providing Ukraine with weapons and support.
“I hope when this winds down that the Ukrainians don’t just settle for an outcome that looks like giving Vladimir Putin what he wanted. They fought too hard. We ought to provide them with the tools to actually let them preserve and protect Ukrainian sovereignty.”
Secretary Pompeo believes that a positive development which has come out of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is that the NATO countries have realized that the Russian threat is real, and NATO countries are finally spending the amounts for defense required by the alliance treaty.
China’s role in aiding and abetting Putin’s war in Ukraine receives a great deal of criticism from former Secretary Pompeo.
“Any nation that refuses to condemn the shelling of innocent civilians is an evil nation. That is Xi Jinping four square. . .It is the Chinese economy which will float or underwrite what will be the devastated Russian economy after the sanctions fully come into place.”
Mike Pompeo favors an all of the above approach to energy. He believes that gas tax holidays are short term solutions when we need to increase supply. The United States should develop clean energy sources while still using affordable, domestic coal, oil, nuclear, and natural gas.
For Republican candidates to be successful next November, Mike Pompeo urges them to be for prosecuting criminals, for stopping the flow of fentanyl by controlling our southern border, and appeal to the needs of American families.
In the final segment of the interview, Secretary Pompeo answers whether Mike Pence or his boss, President Trump was right on January 6th.
