Ambassador Bolton on Biden’s ad-libbed comments concluding his speech in Poland, “The President needs every word to be chosen carefully and used for a purpose. You don’t have idle talk in public when you are President, except in this case, Joe Biden.”

In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, former UN Ambassador and National Security Advisor, John Bolton responds to reports from CBS News that internal White House records from January 6th show a gap of seven hours and 37 minutes in President Trump’s phone logs; weighs in on President Biden’s off the cuff remarks about Ukraine and regime change in Russia; and evaluates the current situation in Ukraine after one month of fighting.

The House Select Committee, which is investigating the January 6th attack on the Capitol Building, is concerned that there is an absence of any notation by the White House switchboard of calls made either to or from President Trump from 11:17 AM to 6:54 PM.

John Bolton, who served as Trump’s National Security Advisor and was familiar with his habits, believes that Trump was using cell phones or was having his staff use their cell phones during this 457-minute gap in the official record. Bolton maintains that Trump used cell phones as a rule and not necessarily to avoid oversight.

“Part of Trump’s problem was that he couldn’t tell the difference between official business and his personal business, to him they were basically all the same.”

Also, Ambassador Bolton explained that President Trump, on a typical day, would first work in the residence area of the White House and come to the Oval Office in the late morning. John Bolton doubts that President Trump was passively watching the assault on the Capitol on TV.

At the end of a speech about US and NATO support for Ukraine, President Biden made an ad lib prayer which called for Vladimir Putin’s removal from office. The President’s off the cuff remark has caused some consternation for the State Department.

Ambassador Bolton, while not being averse to regime change in Russia, was concerned that President Biden was engaging in idle talk without a plan or a policy to support what he was saying.

If the intent was to inspire the Russian people to rise up against their leader, John Bolton feels that comments like this only bolster Putin’s propaganda that the west is plotting against him.

The fighting in Ukraine has raged for a month with no end in sight. John Bolton credits the stalemate to the bravery and ingenuity of the Ukrainian forces and the disorganization and poor performance of the Russian army.

With the fall of the city of Mariupol, Bolton believes that Russian troops can be redeployed to other parts of Ukraine. Likewise, he cautions that Russian withdrawals from the capital city of Kyiv and other areas could be just tactical withdrawals to rearm and rest troops.

“Disappointing and catastrophic results for the military after one month isn’t going to change Putin’s mind.”
