On NH Today, Pappas Praises Sununu for Veto Threat of Congressional Maps

Congressman Pappas supports Sununu’s decision to veto the redistricting maps, “The Governor made the right call in this case. . .Having competitive races is really the hallmark of New Hampshire.”

In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, the Representative from New Hampshire’s First Congressional District, Chris Pappas, gives an update of the situation in Ukraine; states that Putin’s war crimes have unified the world against Russia; hopes that President Biden will be able to persuade China’s leader, Xi Jinping, to withhold support for Russia; defines what our role should be in assisting Ukraine; supports the suspension of the federal gasoline tax to help limit the effects of inflation; and applauds Governor Sununu’s threatened veto of the Congressional map passed by the Republican legislature.

Congressman Pappas discusses the $14 billion aid package which has been appropriated by Congress for relief purposes and weapons for Ukraine. The Congressman hopes that the weapons package of drones and surface to air missiles will get there in time for Ukraine to beat the odds and prevent a Russian takeover.

Because Russian troops have indiscriminately attacked civilians, bombed residential areas, and hospitals, the Congressman believes that Putin is guilty of war crimes which have unified the world, perhaps even China, against this invasion.

“China has a choice here. They can be on the right side of history, or they can side with Vladimir Putin who has a special place in hell after this invasion of Ukraine.”

The Congressman believes that we should control the discussion about what we will do to assist Ukraine not Vladimir Putin.

In response to higher energy costs, Congressman Pappas favors increasing domestic oil production and has introduced a bill in the House to suspend the federal gasoline tax.

Governor Sununu has threatened to veto the congressional district map passed by his own party because he wants the districts to be “up for grabs.” It seems that the legislature made the first congressional district a safe district for a Republican candidate and the second district safe for a Democrat candidate.
