In an interview with WGIR’s Chris Ryan, Senator Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas and possible 2024 presidential candidate, takes the Biden Administration task for its inability to control inflation; its ineffective dealing with China; and its attempt to use the reconciliation spending bill to spend billions on providing welfare and amnesty to illegal immigrants.
Senator Cotton also discusses his plans to update our immigration policy to bring in immigrants who meet the needs of our economy; explains why he voted against the bi-partisan infrastructure bill; gives a negative assessment of Joe Biden’s presidency; describes his role in blocking President Trump’s effort to decertify the Electoral College votes in the 2020 election; and lays out the approach which Republicans need to use in future elections.
In response to a recent poll conducted by Saint Anselm College which shows that 92% of Granite Staters are concerned about inflation, Senator Cotton had this advice for President Biden and his administration.
“Stop spending trillions of dollars, that we don’t have, pumping more money into an economy in which inflation is already at a generational high.”
The Senator also criticized the Administration’s policy of paying people not to work because it contributes to our supply chain problems which further adds to inflationary price increases.
Senator Cotton severely criticizes the Biden policy with China as being weak and ineffective. The Senator is concerned that China continues to wage a cold war against us economically and by threatening our allies in the Pacific, like Japan and Taiwan.
“I worry that Xi Jinping, the dictator of China, has taken Joe Biden’s measure and has found him very lacking.”
While revealing what is contained in the $3.5 trillion Reconciliation Bill, Senator Cotton claimed that the Democrats were pressuring the Senate Parliamentarian to include amnesty for immigrants who entered the country illegally because they intend to give them billions in welfare.
In addition, the Senator claims that the Reconciliation Bill includes a reward to the big tech companies which will get hundreds of thousands of green cards, so they can import cheap foreign labor.
Senator Cotton has proposed immigration legislation which would protect our borders, clarify asylum status, and promote immigration of individuals with skills which are needed in our economy.
Despite the fact that it would bring $3.8 billion to his home state of Arkansas, Senator Cotton opposed the bill because it contained spending provisions which would not benefit rural states like Arkansas or New Hampshire, would expand the deficit, and was the gateway for the $5 trillion human infrastructure bill.
“I thought that it spent too much money on green energy programs or other giveaways to Democrat companies that are just grifting off the taxpayers.”
Senator Cotton gives a scathing assessment of the Biden Presidency with low marks on inflation, Afghanistan, and national security.
In the final segment of the interview, Senator Cotton explains his role in blocking Donald Trump’s efforts to block certification of the Electoral votes for the 2020 election.
“I did not think that it was within the constitutional power of the Congress to reject an Elector slate that had been certified by the state governments.”
In January of 2021 and now, Senator Cotton was convinced that the future success of the Republican party was dependent upon looking forward, not backward.
