On NH Today, River Dave Vows To Continue Legal Battle Over Canterbury Land

What’s next for New Hampshire's most famous hermit, River Dave?

“I’ve been thinking of taking over Howard Hughes’ estate in California!”

In an interview with Chris Ryan, the embattled hermit, David Lidstone, who is also known as “River Dave”, tries to explain his case against the Selectmen of Canterbury, NH. River Dave has lived alone for almost 30 years in a cabin near the Merrimack River on land which he states was listed as in contention on the tax rolls.

The property owner, Leonard Giles, wanted Lidstone removed, and the Town of Canterbury agreed. While Lidstone was in jail for civil contempt, the cabin burned down.

River Dave describes the suspicious circumstances which may have caused the destruction of his home, and his continued legal battles to prove that he was wrongfully evicted.
