An unruly passenger on an American Airlines flight from Milwaukee to Dallas was detained after trying to open the cabin door mid-flight. The passenger, who is a Canadian national, approached a flight attendant near the front of the plane and asked if they could open the cabin door because he needed to get off the plane.

The flight attendant refused, and the man became extremely agitated and started raising his voice. She called other members of the flight crew for assistance and tried to block the door.

The man then ran toward the door, knocking over the 79-year-old flight attendant and causing injuries to her wrist and neck. Other passengers then rushed to her aid and subdued the man.

"He was going for the door. So I just grabbed this guy from behind and kept him from pulling the thing on the door," Doug McCright, one of the passengers who subdued the man, told ABC News.

"The fight or flight instinct kind of came over. And yeah, after processing and the situation was done, yeah, I'm very thankful to be here," Charlie Boris, another passenger who rushed over to help, told NBC News.

They pinned the man down and used duct tape to secure him. The flight continued on to Dallas, where the man was detained by FBI agents. He was then taken to the hospital for an evaluation. The flight attendant who tried to block the door was also taken to the hospital but has since been released.
