New Hampshire Today: Interview with Ryan Day

In an interview with Chris Ryan and Justin McIsaac, the Head Football Coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Ryan Day, discusses tonight’s NCAA Championship game with the University of Alabama and his formative years of playing football for Manchester Central High School and the University of New Hampshire.

Ryan Day became the Head Coach at Ohio State near the end of the 2018 season. Last year, he led the Buckeyes to an undefeated regular season and a loss in the semifinal round of the playoffs. In the interview, he reflects on the people and situations which have brought him to this important moment in his career. Coach Day reminisces about his grandfather who introduced him to the game; Chip Kelly, his coach at UNH and his boss with the Eagles in the NFL; and his youth league coaches in Manchester who made him love sports and to love competition.

Ohio State upset #2 ranked Clemson University 49-28 in the Sugar Bowl. Now, Ryan Day and his Buckeyes face the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, who are coached by the legendary Nick Saban. Ohio State and Alabama both looked impressive in their semifinal games. Coach Day discusses the preparation and the game time adjustments which are done at this level.

COVID-19 has made this season very difficult to navigate. Ryan Day missed the huge rivalry game with Michigan due to COVID. He discusses the sacrifices which players had to endure in order to compete.

In the final segment of the interview, Ryan Day discusses why a small state like New Hampshire has produced so many successful people.
