Animal Shelter Seeks Home For Dog With Special Needs

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An animal shelter is trying to find a new home for a special lovable dog after he became homeless.

Blue, an eight-year-old pit bull, suffers from Cerebellar Cortical Degeneration, a brain condition which affects his fine motor skills.

He became homeless after his previous owner died and now lives at the Nevins Farm Animal Shelter in Methuen.

The staff there say they want nothing more than to find Blue a loving forever home—which is made all the more challenging by Blue’s unique and, sadly, degenerative condition that causes him to shake and wobble, and prevents him from standing or walking without needing an extra hand.

“Blue presents an opportunity to every ‘superhero adopter’ out there willing to open their home to a wonderful pet whose condition may only get worse but whose capacity for love is boundless,” said Rob Halpin with the MSPCA.

He added that Blue is great with children and loves to go outside.
