BOSTON (WBZ-AM) - Five women who say they were sexually assaulted and harassed at McCormick and Schmick's restaurant in Faneuil Hall have filed suit seeking damages and changes in the workplace.
The women say that even though they complained little or nothing was done.
The women who are all Latina allege lewd comments and behaviors by men---some of them supervisors--often witnessed by others.
They first went to the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination back in2015 which found reasonable cause to determine discrimination based on sex.
The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice, which represents the women, says the lawsuit being addressed Tuesday highlights the plight of women in low-wage positions like dishwashers, cleaners and cooks.
“I felt powerless, like some object or animal. I filed this lawsuit because I want other women to know that no matter what type of work they do they are not powerless,”
said Plaintiff Marta Romero through her attorney Sophia Hall translating.
The women say they want people to know this is not just going on in Hollywood.
