Ambassador Nikki Haley analyzes the past and present foreign policy positions of her former boss, Donald Trump.
“I was honored to serve in the administration with him. I thought he was the right president at the right time, and I thought that he was good on foreign policy. But since then, he has started to slip.”
In an interview in studio at iHeart New Hampshire with Chris Ryan, former South Carolina Governor, former UN Ambassador, and 2024 Presidential Candidate, Nikki Haley discusses her strong performance in the Republican Debate and how it has given momentum to her campaign; analyzes Trump’s foreign policy strengths and weaknesses; examines the enigma that the overwhelming majority of voters don’t want Biden or Trump to be president in 2024, but Biden and Trump are way ahead in the polls; breaks down the factors which are affecting the housing shortages; and explains how America’s mental health crisis impacts homelessness.
As a result of her strong performance in the Republican Candidate Debate, Ambassador Haley has moved up in the polls and is sensing an increase in momentum during her recent events on the campaign trail in the Granite State.
Ambassador Haley believes that the debate gave her an opportunity to put forward her view that both parties are responsible for our huge national debt and to redefine the abortion/pro-life issue.
Because of her background as a governor and as UN Ambassador, Nikki Haley was able to stand out during the debates as having gravitas, especially in her exchanges with political newcomer, Vivek Ramaswamy.
“It’s just naïve, and we can’t have a naïve president going in when our enemies are uniting against us. I just have little patience for the fact that you can’t just say I’m going to let Russia have Ukraine. It’s not your country to give.”
Ambassador Haley commends Former President Trump’s support for Ukraine during his presidency, but she feels that he has walked that back and is now willing to concede too much to Russia.
On Trump’s foreign policy toward China, Ambassador Haley feels that Trump did a good job of identifying that China was a threat, but he was only focused on trade. In her opinion, Trump didn’t do enough about China’s theft of our intellectual property and using fentanyl to kill so many Americans.
As the campaign heats up, Nikki Haley addresses the enigma of the 2024 election. Biden and Trump may have huge leads in the polls, but she questions if that is what the voters really want.
“First of all, three quarters of Americans don’t want to see a Trump-Biden rematch. Secondly, we need a new generational conservative leader. We need the old guard to move away and some new blood and new ideas to move in.”
Many Americans continue to support Trump, in Ambassador Haley’s opinion, because of the way that he fought back his embattled presidency. She feels that it’s time to address the problems which we face now, but she thinks that Trump is still focused on the 2020 election.
Nikki Haley wants to get our economy moving by getting government spending in check. She feels that the budget started to get out of control while Trump was President. As President, Nikki Haley would close the border, address transparency in the classroom, and improve national security.
In the last part of the interview, Ambassador Haley discussed the causes of the housing shortage. In her opinion, homes are more expensive because of inflation and higher interest rates which are caused by out-of-control government spending. Housing prices are also affected by energy costs and over regulation on the federal, state, and local levels.
The conversation then transitioned into a discussion of homelessness.
“We have to deal with the cancer in America that America has refused to deal with, and that is mental health.”
Ambassador Haley ended with a call to greatly increase mental health services which would help to prevent people falling into drug addiction.
