Governor Sununu makes this startling prediction about the 2024 election.

“Donald Trump is not going to be the nominee. He did some really good stuff as president. . . I supported him in '16 and '20. As a party, we are going to move on, whether it’s with Ron DeSantis or somebody else."

In an interview with Chris Ryan, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu attempts to clarify whether he intends to run for president in 2024; discusses how the Republican Party can attract younger voters; explains why he feels that the GOP needs to move past Donald Trump; evaluates the candidacy of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis; and reacts to a recent fatal shooting outside a club in Manchester, NH.

Governor Sununu made quite a national splash this Sunday when he appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union”. The Governor made several interesting statements about the 2024 presidential race, including the possibility of throwing his own hat in the ring.

When he was asked what may have happened to cause him to announce his possible candidacy, Governor Sununu downplayed the entire thing. He maintained that nothing has actually changed about his considering a run for president and that he has had open discussions with different people about his running for the last year or so.

The future of the Republican Party is also a topic on his mind. Governor Sununu feels that the GOP needs to appeal to younger voters, pick better candidates, and improve the party’s branding.

In fact, Governor Sununu is quite optimistic about the Governor of Florida’s chances.

“In New Hampshire, DeSantis beats him (Trump) today. There is no doubt about that in my mind.”

The 2024 Election will be a long and arduous process with many twists and turns. Governor Sununu expects President Trump to poll between and 25 to 30% of the voting in the early primaries. He anticipates a large field of about 10 Republican hopefuls which might even include him.
